SUMMARY:Accelerating discoveries in biology and medicine using AI
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to partner with the Institute for Pandemics and the Temerty Centre for AI Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM) to host a three-part speaker series this fall on AI and infectious diseases! Moderated by The Globe and Mail’s Ivan Semeniuk\, this series will be a fascinating exploration of how AI is revolutionizing the way we detect and respond to infectious diseases. All the events will be free and offered in a hybrid format. \nAfter two great sessions\, we are excited to bring to you the last event of the series\, hosted by the T-CAIREM. Keynote speaker Cesar de la Fuente (University of Pennsylvania)\, and panelists Dionne Aleman (University of Toronto) and Artem Babaian (University of Toronto) will discuss how AI can be leveraged to understand biology and identify novel targets for drug discovery. \nThis session will be offered as part of the third annual AMR symposium and be featured under the theme “Tools to Power the Fight Against AMR” on November 19 between 11 am -12 pm ET. The session will be offered in-person and virtually\, and links will be shared with the registrants closer to the date.   \nIf you are interested in attending the two-day AMR symposium in its entirety\, please register here. If you are a member of an EPIC partnered institution\, please contact epic@utoronto.ca for EPIC discount codes!  \nIf you would like to attend the AI & infectious diseases speaker series session ONLY and not the remainder of the symposium\, please use the discount code “AIONLY” at the time of registration. This will allow you to register for free to attend only this session. Please note that registrants who use this discount code will be identified by a unique colour of name badge that will not permit them access to other sessions at the AMR symposium. \nWe will also be hosting a trainee-only lunch after the session (12 – 1pm) to give trainees an opportunity to engage and network with the speaker and panelists. Space is limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Register here for the trainee lunch.
