DESCRIPTION:Join the Temerty Faculty of Medicine for their City-Wide Medical Grand Rounds 2026 Berris Lecture with Tor Biering-Sørensen (Professor\, University of Copenhagen) who will be giving a talk titled “Using Nationwide Registries to Conduct Pragmatic Randomized Trials.” \nThis hybrid session will discuss why it is important to use registries for the conduct of randomized controlled trials (RCT). The presentation will include how registries can improve the conduct of RCT’s\, the types of registries that are normally used and the limitations of using registries to conduct RCT’s. Her research interests include understanding the impacts of climate and landscape change on host-parasite interactions in the Arctic. She has research programs investigating parasite biodiversity\, invasion processes\, and the impacts of parasites on host populations\, food safety and food security. SUMMARY:6th Symposium of the Canadian Society for Virology
DESCRIPTION:The 6th Symposium of the Canadian Society for Virology\, CSV2026\, will be held between May 31-June 4\, 2026 on the University of Guelph. \nThis 4-day symposium provides an opportunity for people of all levels of scientific research to present their research in person. Oral presentations and posters will be selected by the abstract review committee from submitted abstracts\, based on eight topics: Emerging Viruses\, Vaccines and Antivirals\, Virus-host interactions\, Fundamental virology\, One Health\, Virus Evolution\, Putting Viruses to Work\, and Veterinary Viruses. \nThe symposium includes a trainee network dinner where trainees can ask mentors questions to help them further their careers and an off-site banquet dinner to bring the symposium to a close. \nPlease refer to the conference website for more details on how to register and the conference agenda.
