Lessons learned from biochemistry, genetics, and structure: entry mechanisms of Shigella bacteriophages

In this seminar organized by the department of biochemistry and hosted by Karen Maxwell and Michael NorrisKristin Parent (Michigan State University) will present her work on studying the molecular mechanisms by which Shigella phages infect and deliver the viral genome inside bacterial cells.

Dr. Parent is a professor of biochemistry & molecular biology, and a leader in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and bacteriophage biology. Her research combines structural biology, virology, and biophysics to study phage-host interactions and uncover mechanisms of virus assembly and infection.

Date and time: Wednesday, April 30, 12:00 – 1:00 PM

Location: MSB 2172
