Emerging Pathogen Containment: An introduction to research approaches

We are excited to announce that in conjunction with the 2025 EPIC Symposium, we are partnering with the Canadian One Health Training Program on Emerging Zoonoses (Canopy) to offer a trainee workshop titled: Emerging Pathogen Containment: An introduction to research approaches. Register for the workshop here!

In this workshop, trainees will get an inside look at how research involving high containment pathogens is conducted in academic environments. The sessions will include an overview of the Canadian regulatory structure for work with emerging pathogens, case studies of program redesign, interactive risk assessment activities and a walk-through tour of the Toronto High Containment Facility.

This workshop will equip participants with a high-level understanding of infrastructure design and operational approaches utilized in Canadian biosafety containment level 3 (CL3) facilities.

Trainees at EPIC partnered institutions or trainee members of Canopy are eligible to register for the workshop, but spaces are limited and will be assigned based on first responses.

Note: Lunch and coffee will be provided! Certificates of completion will be available upon request.
